While Semi Bird is running for governor of Washington State, the Washington State Republican Party has formally given their support to him.
It has been reported that Bird is the first African American candidate to receive endorsement from the Washington State Republican Party for the position of Governor, as stated in a press release issued by his campaign department.
This is a momentous occasion, not only for the Republican Party but also for the state of Washington and for all of the people in the United States. Bird expressed his gratitude for the endorsement by saying, “I am humbled by the support of so many, and I promise to work tirelessly to represent every citizen, regardless of race, creed, or religion.”
A few days prior to this endorsement, candidate Dave Reichert made the announcement that he would be withdrawing his name from consideration for the convention’s endorsement process. Reichert also expressed his disapproval with the leadership of the Republican Party.
