LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — In Lower Allen Township, a four-year-old girl was found locked in a car for an hour. Police are now charging her father.
Affidavits from Lower Allen Township Police say that Robert Wall, 46, of South Carolina, left his daughter alone in a stopped car on the 3200 block of Ruth Way in the Arcona Strand apartment complex on a hot evening.
The affidavit says that at 8:01 p.m. on June 13, a witness was walking toward a nearby store when she heard a car alarm. When the witness got close to the black BMW, they saw that the child was locked inside.
The witness said the child was screaming and covered in sweat while she was buckled into her seat. The temperature reached 89 degrees during the police reaction, the affidavit said. The witness opened the car door and let the child out by reaching through a partly open window. The child only said “I’m thirsty” when asked what her name was.
Police in Pennsylvania have named five people they want to catch in the Harrisburg area.
The affidavit says the witness then asked a friend to bring her a bottle of water.
A few minutes later, the child’s father, Wall, came out of 3221 Ruth Way and took the kid inside before the police got there.
Police say Wall got to the area at 6:44 p.m. to visit a friend. His daughter was asleep when he arrived, so Wall left her asleep in the car. He lowered the back windows by 4 to 6 inches and the front windows by 2 to 4 inches. Then he went inside to drink and watch TV.
