A stone that wasn’t actually a stone was discovered by a girl. Imagine yourself strolling along the shore on a nice, sunny day at the beach when your attention is drawn to something in the sand. Although it’s a random stone, it’s kind of interesting. As a small memento of your day, you pick it up and carry it home, just like most people do.
A young girl in Spain truly experienced that. She was enjoying herself at a beach on the Costa Brava near Girona, which is a stunning section of the country’s northeast coast. She was strolling down the beach when she noticed a particularly noticeable stone. Even though it wasn’t glowing or anything, she felt drawn to it and wanted to keep it. After picking it up, she put it in her bag and took it home.
Nobody gave it much thought at the moment. The stone appeared to be just another beach memento, such as a piece of sea glass or a shell. However, as time went on, this stone concealed something.
The girl takes the stone home and time does its thing
The girl kept the stone as an ordinary thing after they returned home following a pleasant day at the beach. But a few months later, the stone started to transform.
The stone began to deteriorate, as is common with natural items, particularly those that have been exposed to air, temperature fluctuations, and possibly even some humidity. There were cracks. At first, there were only little adjustments that were simple to overlook rather than anything significant. When the true surprise was revealed, the stone had likely remained on a desk or shelf in the residence for about a year.
The girl’s mother noticed something odd one day. There was something within since the stone had cracked enough. Furthermore, what she observed was unquestionably more than a portion of the rock. It was made of metal. It was not simply any metal that didn’t seem to belong in a beach stone.
There was a grenade inside the stone, hidden totally until it wore down. A real grenade, full force.
The mother acts fast and calls the police
The girl’s mother did the right thing in that circumstance as soon as she recognized what she was seeing: she asked for assistance. She called Spain’s emergency number, 112, and informed the authorities of the situation.
The call was promptly answered by members of the Catalan police department, the Mossos d Esquadra. After arriving and verifying that it was indeed a grenade, they got in touch with their Tedax section, which handles explosives. These experts are qualified to handle and remove explosives, grenades, and other hazardous materials in a safe manner. Making ensuring that nobody was hurt and that the area was secure, they removed the grenade with caution.
A surprising ending and a serious reminder
To inform people of what had transpired, the Mossos d Esquadra posted the tale on social media following the occurrence. Raising awareness was the aim, not frightening anyone. The fact is that occasionally seemingly innocuous objects, like a random stone on the beach, can conceal something far more harmful.
In this instance, an odd occurrence during a family beach day evolved into something nobody could have predicted. Fortunately, the mother took prompt action, and the experts understood just what to do.
