A Father of Twins and His Teenage Brother Were Shot and Killed While Sitting in Their Parked Car. A Suspect Has Been Charged With Murder

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said, “These terrible deaths show how important it is to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people.”

Two brothers were shot and killed outside of their California home, and a man has been charged with their murder.

Sergio Rios, 33, and Ricardo Rios, 19, were killed. On Monday, June 10, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a news release that Marcos Navarro, 33, has been charged with two counts of murder.

A press statement says that on June 1, Navarro is said to have shot the Rios brothers while they were sitting in a parked car outside their home near Exposition Park.

His younger brother was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Sergio died at the scene of the accident.

A press statement from the Los Angeles Police Department says that Navarro was arrested on June 2, which is a Sunday.

A $5 million bond is being held for Navarro, and he is due in court on July 3 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. He could spend the rest of his life in state jail if he is found guilty as charged.

Chief of the LAPD Al Lopez said at a press conference on Monday that police “do not believe that there was any connection between the suspect and the victims.”

Mabel Lopez, Sergio’s wife, also spoke at the news conference. She said that Navarro “took away our future.”

Every pair makes plans, and Sergio and I were no different. “We had plans for our two-year-old twins and how to raise them,” she said. “We were going to see them grow as a couple.” He would say things like, “I can’t wait to see our daughter’s quinceañera.” Such things. That was quickly taken by this person who came along. Our family shrunk from four to three.

Gascón said in a statement that he felt “heartfelt sympathy” for the brothers’ family members who had lost two members of their family to senseless gun violence.

“These terrible deaths show how important it is to keep guns out of the wrong hands as soon as possible.” “Our office is committed to seeking justice for the victims and their families,” he said in the next part of his statement.

It has been decided that the money raised will “help provide some financial stability for Mabel and the twins as they navigate life without Sergio.”

As the campaign says, Sergio was “a light in every room he entered, a friend anyone could rely on, and the most family-oriented man you could meet.” People who knew him well remember his younger brother as “a sweet, family-oriented young man with many dreams and aspirations.”
