CHARLESTON, S.C. — A 30-year-old man got more than two years in federal jail after pleading guilty to two counts: one count of helping to bring someone into the country illegally for prostitution and one count of illegally reentering the country after being removed.
According to the evidence given in court, Maco Jacome-Jacome had been deported twice before coming back illegally. The Department of Justice said that when he got back to the United States, he hired another person, a Mexican citizen who was also illegally in the country, to go from Atlanta, Georgia, to North Charleston, South Carolina, to do prostitution.
Court evidence showed that Jacome-Jacome took advantage of the person by scheduling her meetings, advertising her as “carne” to customers and other pimps, and driving her to many hotels, motels, and trailer parks so she could have sex for money.
After that, he would only give the victim 25% of the money that was made.
Jacome-Jacom will go to jail for 30 months and then be supervised by the court for three years.
There were investigations into the case by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case was brought by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amy F. Bower and W. Cole Shannon.
