Authorities in Arizona say a 2-year-old boy died in a “tragic accident” when his bounce house flew into the air on Saturday.
The crime took place around 5 p.m. near Casa Grande, a city 50 miles south of Phoenix, according to a statement from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
A strong gust of wind blew a bounce house into the lot next door while several kids were playing in it, according to the sheriff’s office. “A two-year-old child was taken to the hospital, but there he died.”
Another child was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
“It looks like this was a terrible accident,” the sheriff’s office said.
A real GoFundMe page said that the child’s parents were named Karl and Cristy. The page said that Karl is a firefighter in Phoenix and that Bodhi was named as the child who had died.
The GoFundMe page says that the couple will have their second child in late May.
“Karl and Cristy are dealing with unimaginable grief after this terrible loss,” the fundraiser said. “Although they are sad, they have to do the hard work of getting ready for the birth of their child.”
There were failed attempts to get in touch with the couple through the fundraising account on Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Phoenix Fire stated in a statement that the couple is connected to the department and is getting help from them.
“This terrible loss of life breaks our hearts all,” the message said. Firefighters are proud to be a big family. The people in our department and among our members are doing everything they can to help Karl and Cristy through this tough time.A 2-year-old boy from Arizona dies when his bounce house pops up in a strong wind gust.
