Someone says that a 12-year-old girl killed her 8-year-old cousin by suffocating her in her bed after a fight over an iPhone.
The teen, who is 12 years old and about to turn 13, has been charged with first-degree murder and messing with evidence in Humboldt County, Tennessee.
The prosecutor says that police have home surveillance video that shows the girl allegedly suffocating her cousin with bedding while he was sleeping on the top bunk of the bunk bed they were sharing.
The suspect, whose name was not made public, is said to have cleaned up the victim and moved her body after she died, according to Agee.
“I think this is one of the most upsetting acts of violence by an adult or a child that my office has prosecuted,” Agee says in a statement.
The 12-year-old has been charged as an adult by the prosecutors.
The girl’s mother told WREG that her daughter’s name was Demeria Hollingsworth and that the girls had a fight over an iPhone.
She liked to read books, swim, play outside, ride her bike every day, play with kids in the neighborhood, and play with the kids of my friends, Smith told the news source. “My child was nice.”
Over $14,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe page set up by the girl’s mother.
