In August, a well-known Los Angeles doctor was killed in an ambush outside of his clinic. His ex-wife was caught and charged with his murder while police searched her home.
This week, five people were caught in Los Angeles for planning to kill Dr. Hamid Mirshojae. One of them was Ahang Mirshojae, whose maiden name was Kelk.
No one has said why they think Dr. Mirshojae was killed, and the police haven’t said what part each person is said to have played in the death.
In the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Blvd. in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles on August 23, 2024, a “masked man” shot and killed Dr. Mirshojae in the back of the head in the parking lot of his family clinic. There was 61 years of age.
Around 5:34 p.m., Mirshojae had just finished his shift. His patients included “celebrities, movie stars, athletes, and many people from different walks of life.” The gunman then came out from behind a bush and ran towards the Iranian-born doctor.
The killer shot someone and then ran to the back of the Woodland Hills Medical Clinic and Urgent Care. 42 minutes later, cops arrived on the scene of an “ambulance shooting.”
Mirshojae was declared dead at the scene of the crime.
After looking into it for almost four months, cops said they had arrested Kelk and four other people.
In a Facebook post that has since been taken down, Kelk, 53, told of her grief over the death of her ex-husband.
She told him, “Hamid, the kids, and I are in shock. We miss you so much.” “At 5:30 p.m. on August 23, they took Hamid away from us right in front of his practice.” He always helped people and saw tens of thousands of patients over decades. We fought HARD to make life happen from nothing in the apartment, but the world is still so cold.
The person who is now thought to have killed Mirshojae said that her family had to be “strong in the face of evil” to remember her.
The ex-couple had three grown children together.
KTTV reports that LAPD and federal agents searched Kelk’s Calabasas home Thursday night, hours before she was arrested.
No information was given about what was found during the search.
In August, Kelk said she had nothing to do with the death of her ex-husband.
After splitting up with his ex-wife, Dr. Mirshojae got married again in 2023. He and his new wife had a 6-month-old daughter together when he died.
At the time of the killing, his new wife and daughter were in Turkey visiting family. When they heard the sad news, they quickly flew back to the US.

Four other people were arrested and charged with the alleged killing on August 23. Ahang Mirshojae was arrested on Thursday.
Evan Hardman, 41, was caught on December 10 in the Houston, Texas, area. He was charged with Murder with Special Circumstances and will be sent to be held by the LAPD.
For the Los Angeles Times, she said, “It’s all lies.”
Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, was arrested in the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday for helping to kill someone.
Sarayah Jawed, who is 26 years old, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with Murder with Special Circumstances.
Three days ago, 46-year-old Shawn Randolph was caught and charged with murder.
Fox 11 said that Hardman and Jawed were also charged with hitting Dr. Mirshojae with a baseball bat in May.
For the attack on May 3 that made Mirshojae fear for his life, both of them were charged with assault with a killing weapon.
At the time, a worker told the Los Angeles Times, “They came and beat him with baseball bats.” “We didn’t know them; they were strangers.”
Kelk and Randolph are being held without bail, and on Dec. 16, their cases will be sent to the LA DA’s office to be filed.
The LAPD said the probe is still going on.
