Elderly Woman Hospitalized with Skull Fracture After Wrong-Way Crash in Scripps Ranch

In the Scripps Ranch neighborhood last night, there was a major accident that left a 72-year-old woman with a broken skull.

The accident happened because an older driver joined a southbound lane while going north, which caused a head-on collision.

A police officer from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) called Officer J. Perales to say that the accident happened in the 10000 block of Aviary Drive at 6:51 PM.

Authorities say that an 83-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC300 when she accidentally turned onto Aviary Drive and kept going north in the opposite direction of traffic.

The Mercedes-Benz crashed into a 2014 Nissan Maxima that was being driven by a 50-year-old man with three people inside.

A female passenger in the Nissan who is 72 years old was seriously hurt and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The San Diego Police Department stated that alcohol did not seem to play a part in the event.

The Traffic Division of the San Diego Police Department was called to the scene of the accident and is now in charge of the investigation.

The names of the people who were hurt have not been made public yet, but what has been said shows how bad the accident was and how it affected the town.
