Concrete, Washington — A house fire in a remote location northeast of Seattle killed three people, and officials are searching for a pickup truck that went missing after the incident, according to police.
According to a statement from the Mount Vernon Police Department, the two-story home in the small hamlet of Concrete was destroyed by fire on Friday morning.
Police reported Monday that the three victims had been recovered, but the significant devastation at the scene made recovery impossible.
Once each person has been identified, the Skagit County Medical Examiner will reveal their identities. Police claimed one of the victims was a Skagit County employee. They did not disclose any other information but did clarify that the person did not work for the county sheriff’s office.
The scene of the fire is currently being investigated by several organizations, including the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, police said. The cause was not yet determined.
The fire was reported at 10:25 a.m. on Friday. Police reported multiple victims had been found, but it could take days to recover them due to the collapsed building.
Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck that has gone missing from the scene of the incident, and they have asked witnesses or anybody with more information to contact Mount Vernon police. The relationship between the truck and the fire was unclear.
Concrete is approximately 96 miles northeast of Seattle.
