BALTIMORE — A new poll from Morning Consult finds that Maryland’s Wes Moore is very close to the top of the list of the most popular governors in the United States.
The poll found that Moore is the third most popular governor in the country, with a 65% approval rate.
Phil Scott of Vermont and Andy Beshear of Kentucky are the only ones behind him.
The poll shows that his disapproval rate is the second lowest.
Moore, who is 45 years old, beat Dan Cox to become Maryland’s 63rd governor in 2022. He was in the U.S. Army and went to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore to get his bachelor’s degree.
Moore got attention across the country when he led the state’s reaction to the deadly bridge collapse. In Maryland, he was also a big part of getting the Baltimore Orioles to agree to stay at Camden Yards. He has also overturned more than 175,000 marijuana convictions, oversaw the legalization of marijuana for adult use, and used executive order to protect gender-affirming healthcare.
