A Republican From Tennessee Files Articles of Impeachment Against Harris

On Tuesday, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Harris. This comes as Republicans step up their attacks on her as she starts her campaign for president.

The filing adds to stories that were already filed that attack Harris’s record on immigration, which is a rallying cry for Republicans against the vice president.

In the new filing, he added a second piece that says Harris broke the public’s trust by hiding information about President Biden’s safety. Even though Biden didn’t run for re-election on Monday, he has said that he plans to finish his term and is healthy.

The filing says that Kamala Devi Harris lied to the American people and Congress on purpose, mainly to hide the fact that Vice President Joe Biden is physically and mentally healthy.

The first papers, which were filed on June 12, 2023, say Harris has “demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration laws, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States.”

It talks about Harris as “border czar,” which is an unofficial title that the media gave to the vice president early in Biden’s term when she was in charge of negotiating with Central American countries to stop illegal immigration.

The document also includes current border crossing statistics as well as a list of crimes that immigrants in the U.S. illegally are said to have committed, such as the death of student Laken Riley, which has been emphasized by Republicans.

“In all of this, Kamala Devi Harris willfully and systematically refused to follow the immigration laws, failed to control the border, put national security at risk, compromised public safety, and broke the law, clearly hurting the people of the United States,” the articles said.

The first file hasn’t gone any further than being introduced.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said last week that the number of arrests at the U.S.-Mexico border fell to 83,000 in June, the lowest number of arrests during Biden’s presidency.

On Tuesday, Ogles also asked Harris to use the 25th Amendment against Biden, claiming his health. If she did this, she would become acting president.

It was in February that the House removed Alejandro Mayorkas as Secretary of Homeland Security because of similar claims about immigration policy. The Senate did not accept the pieces.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) tried to remove Harris in 2021 for her role in the U.S. pulling troops out of Afghanistan. They were not looked at by the Judiciary Committee at any point.
