Restaurants in Washington Are Closing Without Warning, Which Has Led to Layoffs

Sources say that 10 different places in Washington will be laying off workers by September because of sudden business closings.

The Employment Security Department says that Homegrown Partners LLC said the restaurants would be closed for good on September 15.

Ten Homegrown stores in the Seattle area will close in September, putting 158 people out of work.

The company said that the remaining locations in downtown Seattle and Mercer Island will stay open, as well as Homegrown’s catering service.

The company said that the plan was “unsustainable” because it would have negative effects on the economy, such as making food and labor costs go up.
