On Thursday, the body of a 3-year-old boy with autism was found in a body of water. He had gone missing from a resort near Disney in Orlando, Florida.
That afternoon, Orange County sheriff’s officers who had been looking for Rakim Akbari found him. The sheriff’s office said in a post on X that around 9:55 a.m., Akbari, who goes by the name “Tuda,” walked away from the lodge.
Akbari was last seen at the Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas at Lake Buena Vista, which is about five miles from Disney Springs and 12 miles from Disney World.
In another X post at 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office said that the search was over when police found the child’s body.
“It is with heavy hearts that we must share that our deputies have found Rakim Akbari deceased in a body of water,” it said. Our officers are still trying to figure out what happened in this terrible case. We’re sad about his death and will pray for his family.
