This week, officials reported that a 25-year-old guy had exposed himself and urinated in the aisle of the aircraft during a flight on American Airlines. As a result, the flight was redirected.
Following the incident on Wednesday, the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York released a press release stating that the guy from Oregon had been arrested and charged with indecent exposure.
Envoy Air-operated American Airlines flight 3921 was on its way from Chicago to Manchester, New Hampshire, on July 3, the airline said in a statement to Business Insider.
The attorney’s office claims that crew members on board the airplane later informed police that the man had exposed himself and urinated in the aisle of the aircraft, causing the flight to deviate from its intended course and land at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
According to American Airlines, the individual was taken into custody by local law officials who were summoned to the gate. Not long after, the plane took off again.
An airline representative remarked, “We thank our customers for their understanding and our team members for their professionalism.”
According to the attorney’s office, the man showed up in court on Wednesday and was then freed on his recognizance. He might be charged $5,000 and face a maximum sentence of six months in prison for this offense.
The event on Wednesday is simply the most recent in a long line of disruptive passenger occurrences on commercial flights that have increased since the outbreak.
During a deplaning delay in December, a passenger on an Air New Zealand flight was punished for urinating into a cup. After peeing on another passenger in 2023, a 21-year-old student was banned from all American Airlines flights.
