Detectives from Indiana State Police need your help to find Daniel Muir’s 14-year-old son because the boy’s grandma said his father hit him and cut his lip.
Families picked up Bryson Muir on June 16 from a relative’s house near Cleveland. However, Bryson was not in the car when police pulled them over soon after, according to the police. In a news statement, the Indiana State Police said they were asked for help by the Cass County Department of Child Services to look into claims of domestic violence.
Daniel and Kristen Muir, Bryson’s parents, initially helped the police, but on Friday they broke a deal to not bring Bryson to a meeting with detectives, state police said.
Bryson was put on a silver alert because he is “considered missing and endangered.” The Indiana State Police said the investigation is “ongoing” and that no charges have been brought.
Cheryl Wright, Kristen Muir’s mother, told the Indianapolis NBC station WTHR that Bryson was last seen leaving her house. She also said that she called the police because she saw her grandson with a black eye, a fat lip, and a swollen face.
Wright said, “He only said that his dad did it. He wasn’t mad, but he wasn’t mad at his dad.” “He told me it was okay and that he deserved it.” I told him it wasn’t and that no parent should hit their kids like that, not if they love them.
A picture in Bryson’s silver warning shows the 14-year-old with an eye injury. WTHR says Wright gave that picture to the cops.
Wright said she picked up Bryson near Toledo because her daughter asked her to. She said the Muirs were with an unknown man at the time. After a few days, when they came to get Bryson, Wright called the cops.
Wright said, “I think Bryson is somewhere else. They don’t want to bring him back; maybe they don’t want the police to see his face.”
The police said Bryson was 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 185 pounds, had brown eyes and black hair.
NBC News tried calling Daniel Muir but couldn’t reach him at the lines that were in public records. He didn’t answer right away when an email asked him to speak on the abuse claims.
The news station WTHR also said that several tries to get in touch with the couple failed.
Daniel Muir used to play defensive end in the NFL. From 2007 to 2014, he played for several teams. His ESPN page says that he played for four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. The Indianapolis Star says that after retiring, the former player gave talks to inspire people.
