A youngster from Montgomery was arrested and is being held by the police while they look into the death of a young child. The teen is now being charged with murder with the death penalty.
Idyah Knight, who was 12 years old, was shot once on May 31. The Montgomery police force says she was pronounced dead at a hospital in Birmingham on June 7.
The cops say that a 15-year-old boy was later identified as a subject. They arrested the child, who has not been named, on Tuesday and charged him with three counts of capital murder.
His home while he was being held was the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility. At this point, the officials have not said anything about what happened.
Bria Knight, Indyah’s mother, told WSFA News, “I never thought I would have to live without her.”
After the victim died on Friday, a balloon release was held to remember her. In the end, the victim’s family said that she was Indyah Knight.
When Bria Knight talked about her daughter, she called the Chisholm Boys and Girls Club her “second home.” That’s where the balloon release happened. She said she wanted to put her friends, family, and other people she cared about in a place where they could remember her.
