ETOWAH COUNTY, AL. — A man in Alabama said he killed his 3-year-old daughter after finding her in a bathtub not moving.
WBRC said the terrible event happened in 2021.
The police said that 3-year-old Aydah Grace DiMaso was found not responding to their questions during a safety check while she was in custody with her father, Nikolas Joseph Dimaso.
When police found Aydah, they said she had more than 50 signs of injuries all over her body.
Aydah’s grandma also sued the Alabama Department of Human Resources, saying that they failed to protect the child in several ways.
According to lawyer Tommy James, “all of these agencies knew that this poor child was suffering and needed to get out of that house and out of that situation, but they failed her completely, which led to this tragedy.”
James said that Aydah had both new and old injuries, as well as several broken ribs that were improving.
She had cuts and bruises all over her body. Her left arm was broken and healing, and she had a cut in her foot. “You have no idea how horrible what this child went through was,” he said.
DiMaso was given his sentence Thursday, after pleading guilty to the murder of a child under 14 and planning to abuse a child severely.
He is also being charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault in connection with the death of the child with Haley Dee Metz, who is his partner.
