Authorities say that a 22-year-old woman from Ohio was caught after two children who were left in her care got badly burned.

The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office said that Malynda R. Harrison, of Crown City, Ohio, was arrested and charged with endangering a child after an emergency call on Thursday, June 6, about two children at a home in Guyan Township, Ohio.

The sheriff’s statement said that they found a 5-year-old girl there with “severe burns to a large portion of her body.” The girl was taken to a medical center.

According to the investigation that followed, the burns on the girl were “directly caused by intentional acts committed” by an adult who was supposed to be caring for her, the authorities said.

WSAZ reported that a criminal charge said that authorities also found a 4-year-old child at the house with similar burns.

According to the criminal complaint, Harrison reportedly told police that she had locked the two kids in a bathtub full of hot water and physically stopped them from getting out.

Harrison is said to have told the police that the kids were not allowed to change the water’s temperature either, the charge said.

According to the lawsuit, one of the kids had a seizure and got second-degree burns, and another kid got first- and second-degree burns.

At the time of the alleged crime, WKYT said, she was seeing the father of the children.

It wasn’t clear right away if she had made a plea or hired a lawyer to speak for her.
