A wealthy Quebecer named Robert G. Miller was arrested Thursday afternoon on 21 charges, including sexual assault, obtaining sexual services for consideration, and several counts of sexual exploitation of minors. He is said to have paid several young girls large amounts of money for sexual favors.
The man who used to own Future Electronics was arrested at his home in the Westmount neighborhood of Montreal.
Police in Montreal said at a news conference Thursday afternoon that Miller is suspected of having hurt 10 people between 1994 and 2016.
For Miller to be freed, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said he had to promise to go to court on July 3.
The SPVM said that it is still looking into the crimes and asked any victims to come forward.
Police looked into the case for a year after a CBC/Radio-Canada report in February 2023. The charges are the result of that investigation.
The SPVM says that after the story ran, more victims came forward, which let the police start looking into it again.
