An engine on a United Airlines flight caught fire, so the plane couldn’t take off from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. This temporarily stopped landings during busy Memorial Day travel.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that around 2 p.m., United Flight 2091, an Airbus A320, was about to leave the airport when an engine caught fire.
Washington’s Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was where the plane was going. A spokesman for the airport said that the plane had a “emergency situation” before takeoff, but that it was resolved “safely.”
The FAA said that people coming into the airport have been stopped.
United Airlines told Fox News Digital that the plane was towed to the gate, that people got off without any problems, and that no one was hurt.
UA said in a statement, “We are working to make other travel plans for our customers.”
There were 148 people on board the plane, plus five crew members.
The trouble started when the Air Traffic Control System Command Center told the John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, to stop all flights on the ground.
