Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that his hush money trial is making “employers of millions of people” leave New York in protest.
Trump read a quote from Hudson Institute media fellow Jeremy Hunt to reporters outside of court on Thursday afternoon. Hunt said, “This is about one man, [Manhattan District Attorney] Alvin Bragg, who puts his political ambition over the rule of law and the judicial system.”
After that, Trump said:
New York has got to do something about what’s happening because you look at Judge Engoron, you look at Judge Kaplan, what they’ve done, it’s disgraceful. Everyone’s laughing at the New York system and companies are leaving, people are leaving, but major companies with tremendous taxpayer dollars and employers of millions of people, literally. People are leaving, they’re taking their companies and they’re all watching this case.
Some of Trump’s supporters, like Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), spoke out against the trial outside of New York City’s courtroom on Thursday, attacking Judge Juan Merchan and his daughter.
“You got an unfair judge whose daughter is one of the top Democrats’ fundraisers, having raised $100 million.” “That’s the daughter of the judge!” Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) said this. “This is a shady trial to get money.”
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) attacked Stormy Daniels and key witness Michael Cohen, calling each of them a “hooker” and a “felon.”
