Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) filed for divorce earlier this month, and he is reported to be seeing Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas), who is also in the House GOP.
On May 3, Gwinnett County court records show that the Republican from Georgia asked for a divorce from his wife of 12 years, Debra Miller.
A joint restraining order was also put in, which is what all divorce cases in this central Georgia county do.
One person told The Post that McCormick, 55, and Van Duyne, 53, have been linked since at least January.
Someone else said they’ve been dating for more than a year.
The Daily Mail first wrote about McCormick’s breakup and her alleged romance with Van Duyne.
A GOP member told the outlet that the two were seen “holding hands under the table” at a Republican Study Committee lunch in the past few months.
A third person told The Post that this story was true.
The person has also seen McCormick “grab the small of her back” in the House.
Two different people told the Daily Mail that they saw McCormick and Van Duyne shaking hands.
The Dallas Morning News says that Van Duyne got split from her ex-husband in 2012.
A McCormick spokeswoman told The Post that the congressman and his oncologist wife are no longer together, but they wouldn’t say how long that has been the case.
This person said, “Congressman McCormick and Dr. Miller have been split up for a while.” “He has kept that secret and will continue to live his private life out of the public eye.”
The McCormick representative also told The Post that the “rumor mill” on Capitol Hill about McCormick and Van Duyne is “old news.” However, the representative wouldn’t confirm or deny that the politicians were dating.
The Post asked Van Duyne’s office for a comment, but they did not reply.
His wife told the Daily Mail, “I’m sure that he will not be forthcoming” when asked about the reason for the split.
Miller said about the claims of cheating, “You should ask Rich and his coworker.”
The congressman is in his first term and works to serve Georgia’s 6th District. He and Miller have seven children together.
Last year, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said McCormick was “physically aggressive” with her after the two lawmakers presented different resolutions to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) was told by Greene that her coworker “grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her.”
Later, McCormick said that he was only trying to “encourage” Greene after he voted against her censure motion and the House passed his. He also said that he was sorry right away and told her he was sorry.
