NEW YORK —Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was talked about on April 25 during former President Donald Trump’s hush money hearing in New York.
CNBC says that David Pecker, who used to be the editor of the National Enquirer, talked about a conversation he had with Hope Hicks, who was an advisor to the White House, and Sarah Sanders, who was then the White House press secretary.
He told the judge that his publishing business, American Media, paid Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model, $150,000 to stop spreading bad news about Trump during the 2016 election. McDougal said she had an affair with Trump while she was married.
Pecker said in court that he changed McDougal’s confidentiality deal after the 2016 election so that she could talk to reporters who were trying to get in touch with her.
He said that Trump called him after an interview with McDougal aired in March 2018 and was “very aggravated” to hear that the deal had been changed.
Pecker said in court that he told Trump that he was going to extend McDougal’s confidentiality deal, and that White House staffers Hicks and Sanders agreed with him.
Pecker has been testifying in court for three days now. He is the first person in the hearing to give evidence.
