Olympia, Washington – Representative Jacquelin Maycumber of Washington State sent Loren Culp a letter on Monday telling him to stop what he was doing. Culp is running for governor and used to be the police chief of the Republic. The letter says that Culp put up fake quotes on social media that he said were from Maycumber.
The letter telling people to stop what they’re doing, which Maycumber gave to the media on Monday, says that Culp has spread fake tweets from the lawmaker many times.
“In several posts, you included a picture that you wrongly said Ms. Maycumber “Tweeted” on October 21, 2020, to urge Republicans to vote for Joe Biden…The picture…is a total lie. The letter says, “Our client wants to be clear: Jacquelin Maycumber has never backed Mr. Biden.”
Possinger Law Group, Maycumber’s lawyers, asked that the posts be taken down and that Culp say sorry on social media before Thursday. A later tweet from Tuesday shows that Culp doesn’t seem interested in going that route.
“LET THE LAWYERS COME!” Two different reporters asked me what I thought about the RINO @jaquelinemaycum getting a lawyer to sue me over a retweet I made last month…And if law enforcement comes after me, you will hear about it. “That’s so funny,” Culp said.
In the past few months, Culp has gotten into trouble on social media more than once. He could be kicked out of the Washington State Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs because of things he said that were said to hurt their reputation.
A Culp post from March 2 that used a sexist word against Maycumber got a lot of negative feedback from other Republicans in Washington.
As of the time this story was written, it was not clear if Culp would be sued in civil court later this week.
