Spokane, Washington – U.S. marshals arrested a fugitive last week after discovering him hiding under a child’s bed inside a residence in Spokane, authorities said. The arrest was announced by the U.S. Marshals Service, which described the operation as a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Fugitive Wanted for Probation Violation
The suspect, Keantray Davon Bryant-Muellner, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for violating the terms of his graduated re-entry probation sentence. His probation followed a 2024 arrest on charges that included first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and fourth-degree assault.
According to information released by the Marshals Service, Bryant-Muellner had been actively sought by authorities due to concerns tied to public safety and prior weapons-related offenses.
Task Force Surrounds Spokane Residence
Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force surrounded a residence linked to Bryant-Muellner at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Law enforcement officers announced their presence before removing a glass sliding door to enter the home.
“Two uninvolved adults immediately exited the residence,” the Marshals Service said in a statement.
Officers then conducted a search of the home as part of the arrest operation.
Suspect Found Concealing Himself Under Bed
Authorities said Bryant-Muellner was eventually located inside the residence, where he was found attempting to hide under a child’s bed.
“He was instructed to exit and peacefully surrendered to law enforcement without incident,” the Marshals Service said.
No injuries were reported during the arrest, and officials said the suspect complied with instructions once located.
Firearm and Magazines Recovered After Arrest
Following Bryant-Muellner’s arrest, specialists from the Washington State Department of Corrections searched the property. During the search, authorities recovered a handgun and high-capacity magazines, according to officials.
The discovery raised additional concerns given Bryant-Muellner’s prior firearm-related charges and probation status.
Officials Emphasize Public Safety Impact
Craig Thayer, the U.S. marshal for the Eastern District of Washington, said the arrest highlights the importance of collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
“The arrest reflects the strength of our partnerships and the teamwork among local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies,” Thayer said.
He added that removing violent offenders and illegal firearms from the streets is critical as Spokane continues to face challenges related to gun violence.
“Every violent offender arrested and every firearm taken off the street makes our communities safer,” Thayer said.
Multi-Agency Operation
The arrest was carried out by members of the Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, working alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Spokane Police Department, and the Washington State Department of Corrections.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and Bryant-Muellner is expected to face further legal proceedings related to his probation violation and the items recovered during the search.
