Bobs Farm, New South Wales – A 4-year-old boy has died after being pulled unconscious and unresponsive from a swimming pool in regional New South Wales, despite immediate CPR efforts by family members and emergency medical treatment by first responders, authorities said.

Incident Reported Friday Evening

The fatal incident occurred in Bobs Farm, a suburb of Port Stephens, on the evening of Friday, Jan. 9, according to a statement released by NSW Police.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time after reports that a young child had been pulled from a pool and was not responding.

Family Performed CPR Before Paramedics Arrived

Police said the boy was unconscious and unresponsive when he was removed from the water. Family members immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

First responders continued emergency medical care at the scene before transporting the child to a nearby hospital.

Child Died Later at Hospital

Despite the combined efforts of family members and emergency crews, the boy later died at the hospital, police confirmed.
