Greenville County, SC — Authorities in Greenville County are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty after two dogs were found shot and killed near railroad tracks on Cioffi Road in the Piedmont area.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene earlier today following a report of deceased animals near the tracks. Upon arrival, they discovered two dogs that had been fatally shot and left at the location.
Investigators identified the animals as a male Catahoula/Pit bull mix and a female black Pit bull mix. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and evidence indicated they had been intentionally shot.
At this stage, officials have not confirmed whether the incident is connected to another animal cruelty case involving deceased dogs reported earlier this week in the county. However, detectives say all possibilities are being examined, and the investigation is being treated as a priority.
The sheriff’s office is urging residents in and around the Piedmont area to remain alert. Authorities are asking anyone who may have heard gunshots, noticed suspicious activity near Cioffi Road or the railroad tracks, or has any information—no matter how minor—to come forward.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at (864) 271-5210. Tips can also be submitted by reaching out to the department’s Animal Cruelty Investigator through the official sheriff’s office website.
This case remains an active investigation, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
