Massachusetts Man Accused of Killing Two Outside Brockton Chipotle Still on the Run as Manhunt Continues

Brockton, Massachusetts – Authorities in Massachusetts are continuing an intensive search for a 23-year-old man accused of fatally shooting two teenagers outside a busy restaurant in Brockton before fleeing with help from others. Prosecutors say the suspect has been missing for months, prompting a multi-agency manhunt and a cash reward for information leading to his arrest.

Deadly Shooting Outside Popular Restaurant

According to investigators, the shooting happened on March 22 outside a Chipotle located at 500 Westgate Drive. Authorities say Davinci Leonard, 23, was outside the restaurant at the same time as 18-year-old Cevannah Alvarez and 15-year-old Tymari Albertson.

Prosecutors allege that Leonard and Albertson became involved in an argument while patrons were gathered in the commercial area. Moments later, Leonard allegedly opened fire, striking both teens.

Brockton police officers rushed to the scene and rendered aid. Alvarez and Albertson were transported to area hospitals, where they were later pronounced dead.

Charges Filed as Suspect Remains Missing

Leonard has since been indicted on multiple serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without proper identification, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Despite the indictment, Leonard has not been located, and authorities believe he fled the area shortly after the shooting.

Investigators say they are still working to determine what exactly led to the confrontation, but evidence gathered after the shooting identified Leonard as the primary suspect.

Authorities Say Suspect Had Help Evading Arrest

Law enforcement officials allege that Leonard did not act alone after the shooting. David Mosley-Lott, 32, and Jaylen Speed, 24, were arrested in the months following the killings for their alleged roles in helping Leonard avoid capture.

Both men have been charged as accessories after the fact and have pleaded not guilty, according to court records cited by local reporting. Their cases remain pending.

Witness Describes Chaos at the Scene

A witness who was present at the time of the shooting said there was an event taking place nearby, drawing a crowd to the area when gunfire erupted.

“Brockton’s getting worse and worse, so I don’t know what to say,” said Renee Williams, who was near the scene. “It’s just sad you can’t even have a good event for people to be out here just shooting young kids, every other day.”

Residents in the area expressed fear and frustration following the shooting, which happened in a highly visible public space during a busy time of day.

Multi-Agency Manhunt and Reward Offered

The search for Leonard is being led by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police, and Brockton Police Department.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information that leads to Leonard’s arrest.

Leonard is described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds. Investigators say he is believed to have changed his appearance, including cutting his hair short.

Warning to the Public

Officials stress that Leonard should be considered armed and dangerous.

“No one should approach him,” Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said in a public statement earlier this year. Addressing the suspect directly, Cruz added, “Turn yourself in immediately and let the process begin. We don’t need anybody else’s family to get hurt.”

Anyone with information about Leonard’s whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement or the U.S. Marshals Service immediately. Tips can be provided anonymously.
