Bulloch County, Georgia – Two separate law enforcement responses over the weekend led Bulloch County deputies to uncover two methamphetamine labs and arrest three individuals on multiple felony drug and firearm charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said the discoveries were made during routine calls involving a reported dispute and the search for a wanted individual, highlighting how everyday police work can expose larger criminal activity.
Deputies Respond to Dispute, Discover Meth Lab in Brooklet
The first incident occurred Friday at a residence on Live Oak Lane in Brooklet, where deputies were dispatched following a report of a dispute over money.
Senior deputies Jeff White and Doug Harrell from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Christopher Stephen Crosby, 32, who lives at the residence.
According to Sheriff Lynn Anderson, Crosby appeared to be under the influence of drugs when deputies arrived.
During the investigation, deputies searched Crosby’s vehicle and located methamphetamine and a firearm. Due to the nature of the discovery, members of the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team were called to assist.
Investigators later located the remains of a meth lab on the property.
Charges Filed in Brooklet Case
Crosby was charged with:
- Manufacturing methamphetamine
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
He was taken into custody and transported to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains while awaiting further court proceedings.
Search for Wanted Man Leads to Second Meth Lab Discovery
A second incident unfolded Sunday at a Bird Road residence while investigators were attempting to locate a man wanted on probation violation charges.
Members of the Crime Suppression Team, along with Sheriff’s Sgt. Rey Rodriguez, arrived at the home seeking Stoney Keelin, 44.
A woman at the residence, Belinda Kight, 42, told deputies that Keelin was not present. However, a subsequent search revealed Keelin hiding inside a bathroom, officials said.
Active Meth Lab and Firearms Found at Bird Road Home
During the search, investigators uncovered what Sheriff Anderson described as:
- An active meth lab
- Three firearms
- A quantity of methamphetamine
- Various drug-related objects
Both Keelin and Kight were arrested at the scene.
Charges Filed in Second Incident
Keelin and Kight were each charged with:
- Manufacturing methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession/use of a drug-related object
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
In addition, Keelin faces an extra charge for probation violation.
Both suspects were transported to the Bulloch County Jail, where they are being held pending further court action.
Ongoing Concerns Over Meth Production
Sheriff Anderson emphasized that meth labs pose serious risks not only to those involved but also to nearby residents and responding officers. These operations often involve volatile chemicals that can cause fires, explosions, and long-term environmental contamination.
The sheriff’s office encourages residents to report suspicious activity, including unusual chemical odors, excessive trash containing household chemicals, or repeated short-term visitors to a residence.
Conclusion
What began as routine calls for service ultimately led to the removal of two meth labs, multiple firearms, and illegal drugs from Bulloch County neighborhoods. All three suspects now face serious felony charges as the cases move through the judicial system.
