Dallas, TX – Authorities in Dallas say a woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly setting a house on fire and then attempting to disrupt firefighters as they worked to put out the flames early Friday morning.
According to officials, Jermecia Murphy, 37, was taken into custody after a disturbing sequence of events in which she reportedly tried to cut through water hoses moments after crews began suppressing the fire on Prosperity Avenue.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the one-story home shortly before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire. Crews arrived at 12:58 a.m. and began stretching lines to stop the fast-spreading flames. During those critical early moments, officials say Murphy approached the firefighters and allegedly attempted to slash the active water hoses with a knife.
Authorities say firefighters immediately alerted law enforcement on scene, and Murphy was quickly detained before any hoses were completely severed.
