Greensburg, Indiana – A large-scale narcotics investigation in southeastern Indiana has led to the arrest of four people accused of operating a methamphetamine distribution network supplying hundreds of individuals across the region, according to Indiana State Police.
Authorities say the case began on November 23, when state troopers and Greensburg Police Department officers responded to an apartment on East Street after receiving reports of “criminal activity” occurring inside. What started as a call for suspicious behavior quickly escalated into a major drug bust after officers identified evidence pointing to widespread meth distribution.
How the Investigation Unfolded
Police say they obtained a search warrant for the East Street apartment after observing indicators of illegal drug activity. During the search, officers recovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the residence. Investigators determined the apartment served as a central point where occupants allegedly sourced meth and redistributed it to a large buyer network throughout Decatur County and other parts of southeastern Indiana.
According to state police, evidence uncovered at the scene suggested the operation had been supplying narcotics to hundreds of users, making it one of the more significant meth investigations for the area in recent months.
Who Was Arrested and the Charges Filed
The investigation led to the arrest of 53-year-old Ronald D. Lawrence and 47-year-old Deanna M. Embree, both of whom were allegedly involved in drug distribution activities inside the apartment.
Lawrence is facing a list of felony and misdemeanor charges, including:
- Dealing methamphetamine (felony)
- Possession of methamphetamine (felony)
- Possession of marijuana (misdemeanor)
- Possession of paraphernalia (misdemeanor)
Embree was also charged after prosecutors reviewed the case. Her charges include:
- Possession of methamphetamine (felony)
- Maintaining a common nuisance (felony)
- Possession of marijuana with a prior conviction (misdemeanor)
- Possession of paraphernalia (misdemeanor)
Once the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office received the investigative file, additional individuals who were inside the apartment during the search were also charged. 48-year-old Jaime L. Huffman and 45-year-old Rea D. Frazier were both formally charged with visiting a common nuisance, a misdemeanor.
Court Dates and Bond Status
Online court records show that Lawrence is currently being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled for a jury trial on January 26 at 9 a.m. Embree, who was originally being held on a $950 bond, posted bond on December 1. Her jury trial is set for March 16 at 10:30 a.m.
Huffman and Frazier both have their initial hearings scheduled for January 21 at 2 p.m.
Community Impact and Ongoing Concerns
Local officers emphasized that methamphetamine continues to drive significant crime and addiction issues in smaller Indiana communities. Large distribution networks often operate from residential properties like the East Street apartment, blending into neighborhoods while supplying a wide network of users.
Officials say investigations like this not only remove drugs from circulation but also help dismantle the distribution hubs that fuel addiction and related criminal activity. Indiana State Police noted that the case remains open as they work to determine whether additional individuals or suppliers are connected to the operation.
Authorities Encourage Community Awareness
Law enforcement continues urging residents to report suspicious activity, as community tips often serve as the first step in uncovering active drug operations. Police say early reporting helps prevent dangerous substances like methamphetamine from circulating further within local communities.
