Savanna, IL – Two people have been arrested following a major drug bust in Savanna, Illinois, where police seized significant quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, and cannabis. Authorities say the arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal narcotics in the region.
Details of the Arrest
According to a statement from the Savanna Police Department, officers executed a search warrant on November 5 around 1:45 p.m. at a residence located at 10919 U.S. Highway 52. During the operation, police discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia, leading to the arrests of Devon Brashaw and Kellie White.
Devon Brashaw faces multiple Class X felony charges, including possession of heroin with intent to deliver (15 to 100 grams) and methamphetamine delivery. He is also charged with violating the Cannabis Control Act for possession with intent to deliver over 5,000 grams of cannabis, another Class X felony.
Kellie White has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a serious offense under Illinois law.
Both suspects were transported to the Carroll County Jail pending their initial court hearings. Police noted that additional charges could follow as the investigation continues.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Safety Efforts
Police Chief Don Stephens commended the work of the department, emphasizing that the arrests are part of a broader operation to reduce drug-related crimes in Savanna.
“This work highlights and demonstrates the Savanna Police Department’s continued effort in keeping residents and visitors of our community safe and secure,” Chief Stephens said. “We will continue to aggressively target those who seek to disrupt our community with any illegal activity.”
Officials confirmed that the department has been conducting a series of successful search warrants over the past three weeks. These operations have resulted in the seizure of illegal firearms, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia, marking a strong stance against local drug distribution networks.
Impact on the Community
The recent arrests highlight the growing concern over methamphetamine and opioid trafficking in small Illinois communities. Police say the drugs seized during this bust are consistent with quantities intended for wider distribution, rather than personal use.
The Savanna Police Department continues to work alongside Carroll County authorities and state agencies to identify and dismantle drug trafficking operations in the area. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities that may be connected to drug distribution.
The Road Ahead
While both suspects await further court proceedings, law enforcement officials are confident that continued enforcement efforts will help curb the rise in narcotics cases. The Savanna Police Department has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the community remains a safe place for families and visitors.
