Philadelphia Weather Update: Breezy Tuesday After Storm Moves Out, Cooler Air on the Horizon

Philadelphia, PA – After several days of rain, wind, and rough surf along the Jersey Shore, the coastal low that caused these conditions will begin moving east overnight into Tuesday. As the storm system weakens and drifts out to sea, Philadelphia will see a cloudy and breezy day, with drier air expected to settle in later.

Clearing Conditions Expected by Afternoon

The low-pressure system, which had brought damp, breezy conditions to the Philadelphia area, will weaken and merge with the main low off the coast of the Carolinas. Rain will gradually taper off overnight, starting from the northwest and moving southeast, although drizzle and gusty winds will likely continue along the coast through early Tuesday.

Conditions will improve Tuesday as drier air moves in from the west. While clouds may linger through the morning, the afternoon should bring some breaks in the cloud cover, with sunshine making a return. Winds will remain breezy with gusts of 20 to 30 mph, and highs will reach the mid to upper 60s.

Cooler Weather Arrives Wednesday

On Wednesday, a cold front will push through the region, ushering in a fresh blast of cooler air. Temperatures will range from near 70°F in southern areas to the low 60s in the north, with lows dropping into the 30s and 40s by Wednesday night.

Thursday will bring cooler and breezier conditions under mostly sunny skies, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. A light freeze is possible across parts of the Poconos and northern New Jersey if winds ease enough overnight into Friday morning.

Dry and Pleasant Weather on Tap for Friday and Saturday

By Friday and Saturday, high pressure will settle over the region, bringing two dry and pleasant days with gradually warming temperatures. Highs will climb into the low 70s by Saturday, with lows in the low 40s on Friday night and 50s on Saturday night.

Sunday and Monday: More Rain on the Way

Clouds will begin to increase by Sunday, with showers possible Sunday night into Monday. Some thunderstorms may also develop as the next weather system approaches from the west. Temperatures will be above normal on Sunday, but cooler weather is expected to return early next week.
