Cleveland, OH – A 5-year-old girl from Ohio was allegedly beaten, raped, and left for dead by a group of boys, all believed to be under the age of 10. The harrowing assault, which took place on September 13, has left the child’s mother, Antavia Kennibrew, demanding justice for her daughter and expressing frustration with the lack of accountability.
A Disturbing and Violent Attack
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Kennibrew shared the traumatic details of the incident, describing how her daughter was lured away from a family member’s house by a group of older boys. “The boys took her by her hand and walked her to a field that was far away from the residence,” Kennibrew wrote. She alleges that in the field, the boys viciously beat her daughter until she lost consciousness, ripped out her hair, and subjected her to sexual assault. Kennibrew also claims that the boys shoved sticks down her daughter’s throat, stripped her naked, and strangled her with her own shirt.
After the brutal attack, the boys reportedly left the young girl in the field and continued playing nearby, showing no remorse for their actions. Kennibrew’s family member, who noticed the child was missing, went outside to search for her and encountered the suspects, who allegedly lied about seeing her.
The Devastating Discovery and Police Investigation
Kennibrew rushed to the scene after being alerted by her relative, where she found her daughter being treated by emergency medical services. “What I saw was unbelievable,” Kennibrew told. “Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body. Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in it.”
The Cleveland Division of Police confirmed on October 7 that its Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit is actively investigating the assault. Multiple children under the age of 10 have been identified as suspects. However, local authorities have yet to respond to requests for comment on whether charges will be filed, given the young ages of the boys involved.
A Mother’s Call for Justice
Kennibrew has expressed frustration with the authorities’ response to the incident, stating that the police are not holding the suspects accountable. In her post, she wrote, “They are trying to tell me that two of the kids can’t and won’t be charged because they are 8 and 9 years old, even though they attempted to murder my baby and they raped and beat her.” She believes the suspects and their parents should be held responsible for the crime.
The mother is calling for police to file charges in the case and for the authorities to take appropriate action. “I need justice for my daughter,” Kennibrew wrote. “No child should go through this, and no one should be allowed to get away with this.”
Ongoing Trauma and Support for the Victim
The attack has left Kennibrew’s daughter physically and mentally scarred. The young girl is currently undergoing therapy to cope with the trauma caused by the assault. Photos posted by Kennibrew show the extent of the damage to her daughter’s body, including hair being ripped from her scalp.
