Jacksonville, FL – A tragic hit-and-run in Jacksonville claimed the life of 13-year-old Genesis Webber on Tuesday night after she was struck by a truck that jumped the sidewalk. Authorities have arrested the suspect, a Florida man out on bond, following a brief investigation.
The Incident
Genesis Webber was walking along Arlington Road North on Tuesday evening when a truck veered off the road, mounted the sidewalk, and struck her, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. A nearby pedestrian called 911 after spotting the unresponsive girl, but first responders were unable to save her.
Video surveillance captured the horrifying moments: the truck plowed into Genesis, crashed through a chain-link fence, and continued moving before eventually stopping.
Investigation and Arrest
Police tracked the truck’s movements and identified 54-year-old Andre Myers as the suspect. Myers was found asleep in his truck the following night and was taken into custody. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death without rendering aid.
Evidence at the scene, including surveillance footage and other investigative leads, was key in linking Myers to the crime. Authorities confirmed that Myers was out on bond for a previous aggravated assault charge, which alleged that he threatened to run a man over with a car in June 2025. At the time of the hit-and-run, Myers was also wearing an ankle monitor.
Court Details
Andre Myers is currently being held in Duval County Jail on a $1 million bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 23, 2025.
