Clint, TX – A 22-year-old gang member was arrested Monday afternoon after trying to evade law enforcement by hiding in a backyard and later in a cotton field, according to the El Paso County Constable’s Office for Precinct 6.
Jason Armendariz, 22, was taken into custody on three active warrants, including two for driving while intoxicated and one for DWI – second offense. Authorities confirmed that Armendariz is a member of the Paisa gang.
Suspicious Activity Reported by Residents
At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, deputies were flagged down by residents in Clint who reported a suspicious individual jumping into the backyard of a home without permission.
Deputies quickly responded and located Armendariz shortly afterward in a cotton field along the 13600 block of Alameda, where he was being held by local residents until law enforcement arrived.
Arrest and Warrant Details
Once in custody, a warrant check revealed Armendariz had three active criminal warrants:
- Two warrants for driving while intoxicated (DWI)
- One warrant for DWI – second offense
He was booked into the El Paso Downtown Detention Facility, with a total bond of $40,000.
Gang Affiliation Confirmed
The Constable’s Office confirmed Armendariz is a known member of the Paisa gang, a detail that adds context to the nature of the arrest. Authorities did not report any weapons or additional crimes connected to the incident.
