Fredericksburg, VA – A coordinated law enforcement operation in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County led to the arrest of a man after authorities seized more than $27,000 in narcotics and a loaded firearm, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department (FPD).
The arrest comes after a multi-agency investigation targeting drug distribution in the region, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat illegal narcotics and firearm possession violations.
Details of the Drug Bust
Officers executed a search warrant on Sept. 10 at the home of George Liggins in Spotsylvania County. During the search, authorities seized:
- $18,000 worth of methamphetamine
- $8,000 worth of crack cocaine
- $1,800 worth of fentanyl
- A loaded firearm
Liggins was subsequently arrested and faces multiple charges, including three counts of possession of a schedule I/II narcotic with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Multi-Agency Investigation
The investigation was carried out by a task force comprising the Fredericksburg Police Department, Virginia State Police, the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI Fredericksburg Regional Task Force.
Officials emphasized that the operation reflects an ongoing commitment to dismantling drug distribution networks in the Fredericksburg area and ensuring community safety.
Community Safety and Law Enforcement Efforts
Authorities remind residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. Drug distribution and illegal firearm possession remain major concerns in the region, and collaborative enforcement efforts are crucial to reducing related crimes.
“The community’s safety is our top priority,” said a spokesperson for the Fredericksburg Police Department. “We will continue to investigate and act against those who endanger the public through illegal drugs and firearms.”
Next Steps for the Case
Liggins is currently in custody and awaiting trial. The charges carry significant penalties if he is convicted, particularly due to the combination of drug distribution and firearm-related offenses.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests or charges may follow as the case develops.
