Partly Cloudy and Cooler: Philadelphia Region Prepares for Labor Day Weather

Philadelphia, PA – As Labor Day approaches, the Philadelphia region can expect partly cloudy skies and temperatures slightly below average, marking the start of meteorological fall for the area.

Week Ahead: Cooler Temperatures Across the Region

Daytime highs this week are forecast to stay in the upper 70s to low 80s, slightly below the typical 83–84 degrees, with overnight lows ranging from the 50s to 60s. Sunshine is expected through Tuesday, before high clouds drift into the area by Wednesday.

Meteorologists note that while astronomical fall won’t officially begin until September 22, these cooler conditions signal the seasonal transition for residents.

“It’s still early in the week, but expect slightly cooler conditions and partly cloudy skies leading into Labor Day,” said a local weather expert.

Rain Chances and Outdoor Plans

The next chance of showers is forecast for Thursday, coinciding with the Eagles home opener at Lincoln Financial Field. While severe weather is not expected, fans and attendees should stay updated as the rain may follow a reinforcing cold front passing through the area.

“The timing is still four days out, so outdoor events like the game could see changes in rain chances,” officials said.

With the region having experienced extreme drought last fall, even modest rainfall would be beneficial. Since June 1, Philadelphia has received only 8.54 inches of rain, which is 4.04 inches below average, leaving some areas abnormally dry as the season changes.
