Washington Man Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with Two Children in Car

Knox County, IN – A 32-year-old Washington, Indiana man was arrested after allegedly driving while intoxicated with two children in his vehicle, according to the Indiana State Police (ISP).

Traffic Stop and Arrest

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on August 31 near 6th Street and Saint Clair Avenue in Vincennes. A trooper stopped the driver of a red Cadillac for an expired registration.

During the stop, police said the driver had a female passenger and her two small children in the back seat. Officers reported that the driver showed signs of impairment and failed several field sobriety tests.

When the driver was taken into custody, authorities stated that he continued yelling after being told to stop and refused to cooperate while handcuffed.

The female passenger was able to find a ride home for herself and her children, ensuring their safety.

The driver is preliminarily charged with:

  • Driving while intoxicated with passengers under the age of 18
  • Neglect of a dependent
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Disorderly conduct
