New Port Richey, Fla. – A 50-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly pouring acid onto a man while he slept, in what police are calling a premeditated domestic attack. The victim is currently in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.
Details of the Attack
Authorities identified the suspect as Chuanying He, who faces attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery charges, according to a New Port Richey Police Department press release.
Police said He intentionally poured acid on the victim while he was in bed. She then reportedly barricaded the bedroom door and called 911 to report the incident. Evidence gathered during the investigation indicated that the act was likely premeditated.
The call came in around 5 p.m. on Thursday at a residence on the 4500 block of Slippery Rock Road. When officers arrived, the man was found suffering from severe chemical burns.
Medical Status and Response
The victim was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for emergency treatment and remained in critical condition at the time of the police release.
Authorities confirmed the attack appeared isolated to the two individuals involved and no other suspects were being sought.
