Pueblo, Colo.Central Colorado is under threat from strong thunderstorms this Friday, with damaging winds, heavy rain, and large hail expected. The National Weather Service warns that the most dangerous period will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., especially across the Pikes Peak region and the adjacent plains north of Highway 50.

Communities from Colorado Springs to Monument are expected to bear the brunt of the storms. Dangerous driving conditions may develop rapidly during the late afternoon commute, and drivers are urged to avoid flooded streets and use caution around small creeks and urban drainage areas.
