Kankakee County, IL – A Texas truck driver was arrested in Kankakee County after 15 kilos of cocaine were found during a traffic stop early Saturday morning. Dwayne B. Cook, 63, of Spring, Texas, faces multiple felony charges related to drug trafficking following the discovery of the drugs during a routine safety inspection.
Cocaine Seized During Traffic Stop
According to Illinois State Police, Cook was pulled over at 3:24 a.m. on I-57 near milepost 302 in Chebanse, Illinois. During the safety inspection, state police officers discovered 15 kilo bundles of suspected cocaine, weighing approximately 40 pounds.
Charges and Arrest
Cook was immediately arrested and charged with controlled substance trafficking and intent to deliver a controlled substance, both of which are Class X felonies.
Cook to Appear in Court
Cook is currently being held at the Jerome Cobs Detention Center in Kankakee County and is awaiting his first court hearing. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
