17-Year-Old Georgia Teen Denied Bond After Allegedly Killing Mother and Stepfather

Tyus, GA – A 17-year-old Georgia teen, Sarah Grace Patrick, has been denied bond after being charged as an adult with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault for the alleged killings of her mother, Kristin Brock, and stepfather, James Brock. Patrick was arrested on July 8 and remains in custody ahead of her scheduled trial on January 5, 2026.

Alleged Crime and Social Media Activity

Authorities say the killings occurred in February 2025, when Patrick allegedly shot her mother and stepfather at their residence. Police reported that Patrick’s 6-year-old sister found the bodies, and a 911 call reportedly alerted law enforcement to the scene.

Patrick reportedly posted on TikTok after the deaths, including a June 30 post captioned, “Should prob delete later,” showing her at the beach. She also shared other posts expressing her grief, stating, “If you asked me about my mom and step dad, I’d say I miss them so much.”

Court Testimony and Family Statements

During the bond hearing, relatives of the Brocks and Patrick’s friends testified regarding the impact of the killings. Kim Bowling, sister of James Brock, described the trauma faced by the victims’ 5-year-old granddaughter, saying, “I imagine their terror in their final breaths… the trauma this innocent child will carry for the rest of her life is unfathomable.”

Family members also argued that Patrick posed a flight risk and demonstrated a pattern of intimidation toward relatives and others with knowledge of the crime.

Supporters Speak on Patrick’s Behalf

Several friends and church associates spoke on Patrick’s behalf, claiming she was kind-hearted and nonviolent. Supporters wore “I Stand with Sarah” T-shirts during the hearing. Carrie Jensen, who has known Patrick since seventh grade, stated, “Hurting someone simply isn’t in her nature or character… She wants only to protect them.”

Despite these statements, the judge remained firm.

Judge Denies Bond

Judge Jeffrey Hightower denied Patrick’s request for release, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime:

“This is not daytime court TV and this is not for entertainment… We’re here to simply apply the law, and I am going to do that to the best of my ability.”

Patrick, age 17, will remain in custody as she awaits trial, with the court citing concerns over public safety and the risk of flight.
