Severe Weather Strikes Middlefield, Ohio: EF-0 Tornado Uproots Trees and Damages Buildings

Middlefield, Ohio – A brief but damaging EF-0 tornado touched down northeast of Middlefield on Monday evening, snapping trees and tearing roofs from barns before dissipating minutes later. The National Weather Service in Cleveland confirmed the twister began just west of Madison Road/OH-528, south of Burton-Windsor Road, around 8:45 p.m.

Tornado Details and Damage Overview

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the tornado’s peak winds reached 85 mph during its brief 0.24-mile path, which was roughly 75 yards wide. The storm uprooted a large tree and broke several limbs before crossing Madison Road, where three buildings sustained roof damage. Two smaller outbuildings suffered extensive roofing loss, and a larger barn had portions of its roof ripped away.

Debris and Livestock Damage

Debris from the tornado was scattered several hundred feet onto nearby roadways, making travel hazardous. Three livestock animals were injured during the storm, but fortunately, no human injuries or fatalities were reported.

Cleanup and Recovery Efforts

The NWS confirmed the tornado dissipated by 8:47 p.m., but cleanup efforts are still underway. Property owners are working with emergency crews to clear debris and repair damaged structures. Local authorities have issued advisories for residents to stay clear of the affected areas until repairs are completed.
