Michigan Man Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend Searched Online for Ways to Dispose of Body, Prosecutors Say

Roseville, MI – Disturbing new details have emerged in the case of Deandre Booker, 33, who is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and allegedly making a series of incriminating Google searches before and after her disappearance. Prosecutors claim the searches reveal premeditated intent and chilling attempts to cover up the crime.

Evidence of Disturbing Online Searches

During a court hearing this week, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office presented a timeline of Booker’s alleged searches, which investigators believe outline both planning and aftermath. According to Roseville Police Detective Chris Moran, one of the earliest searches, made on December 22, 2024, read: “telling god I want to kill someone.”

About a week later, Booker allegedly searched for “9mm silencer roseville” along with variations including “michigan” and its abbreviation. That same day, he is accused of typing “murder out of rage ex.”

On January 2, 2025 — the day prosecutors believe Ashley Lashay Elkins, 30, was killed — additional searches included “shoot gun threw pillow” and “Can you track location when phone is off.”

Chilling Search About Trash Disposal

Perhaps the most telling search came on January 5, three days after Elkins was last seen. Authorities say Booker typed: “What happened to trash after its picked up.” Prosecutors argue this is significant because investigators later found blood evidence in a dumpster near Booker’s apartment.

“If he had placed the victim in the dumpster, he would definitely be very concerned as to where the trash would go with the body,” Detective Moran said, according to WDIV Local 4 News.

Timeline of the Investigation

Elkins was last seen on January 2 after going to Booker’s home in Roseville. On January 5, her vehicle was located, and police conducted a search of Booker’s apartment. Blood matching Elkins’ DNA was reportedly discovered in the bathroom and other areas of the residence.

Booker was arrested on January 8 for allegedly lying to police about Elkins’ disappearance. The murder, tampering with evidence, and related charges were filed roughly three weeks later.

Authorities also searched the Pine Tree Acres Landfill in Lenox Township after learning about the dumpster evidence, but Elkins’ body has not been recovered.

Charges and Next Steps

Booker faces first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, disinterment and mutilation of a body, and concealing the death of an individual. His trial is scheduled to resume Friday.

In a January statement, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido expressed solidarity with Elkins’ family:

“Our hearts are with Ashley’s family as they endure this unimaginable pain, and we remain committed to seeking justice. No one should suffer such a loss.”
