Paducah Weather Alert: Afternoon Storms and Muggy 80s Temps Continue Through Midweek Across Western Kentucky

Paducah, KY – Residents across western Kentucky are in for a soggy start to the week, as widespread afternoon storms and humid temperatures in the 80s settle over the region. The Kentucky Pennyrile in particular should prepare for scattered showers, downpours, and lightning from Monday through Wednesday.

Storm Chances Highest Early in the Week

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Monday and Tuesday are expected to bring the most widespread thunderstorm activity, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. While storms may stretch as far west as the Mississippi River, the heaviest activity is expected east of it, especially over the Pennyrile region.

Rain chances are pegged at around 40% for Monday, with brief but intense downpours likely in some areas.

“Lightning and localized flooding are possible with stronger cells,” warned forecasters.

Humidity and Mild Temperatures Hold Steady

Daytime highs will remain below August averages, hovering in the low to mid-80s, while overnight lows stay in the upper 60s. The consistent humidity will make conditions feel muggy, especially during storm-free periods.

Weather Eases Slightly by Midweek

By Wednesday, the storm threat is expected to decrease somewhat, but isolated showers and storms will still be possible, particularly in central and eastern counties. Gradually, the region will shift back toward typical August warmth and humidity as the week progresses.

Safety Reminders Issued for Afternoon Storms

Officials are urging residents to stay weather-aware, especially during afternoon hours when storm development peaks. Motorists should avoid flooded roads, and residents are advised to secure outdoor items and reconsider outdoor plans if storms are likely.
