DODGE CITY, KS — Travelers and residents across western and central Kansas are being urged to take precautions as a line of severe thunderstorms is forecasted to sweep across the region from Friday night through Sunday, bringing the threat of damaging winds, hail, and localized flooding
According to the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for multiple counties, warning of rapidly changing conditions that could severely impact weekend travel plans.
Potential Hazards: Winds, Hail, Flash Flooding
Meteorologists say the storms are likely to form late Friday and continue into early Sunday, with the strongest storms expected Saturday evening. The main threats include:
- Wind gusts over 60 mph
- Quarter-sized hail or larger
- Heavy downpours leading to flash flooding
“Those planning to travel should monitor forecasts and have alternate plans in place,”
the NWS said in its advisory.
