Man Hurls 'Sizzling Acidic Liquid' After Threatening to Burn Mother Alive, Police Report

The authorities say that a man who is wanted for allegedly assaulting and attempting to extort his mother assaulted and threatened law enforcement personnel as they arrived to arrest him. Authorities are looking for him.

In addition to being charged with aggravated assault against a public worker and obstruction or retaliation, James Andrew Woerner, who is 38 years old, is currently being held in the Bexar County Jail. According to reports, he has been there since Saturday. The investigation is reported to have started on Friday, when Woerner allegedly broke into the home of his mother, who is 73 years old and lives in San Antonio, and requested that she collect money from an automated teller machine.

According to the records filed in the court, she declined, and as a result, he became increasingly enraged.

The documents indicate that Woerner threatened to burn his mother alive before putting her into a car, assaulting her, and warning that he would crash the vehicle to kill both of them. Woerner is said to have given this threat before hitting his mother. In the end, his mother had the courage to leap out of the driving vehicle.

The San Antonio Police Department was contacted by the suspect’s father, who was called by the suspect. However, his information did not come without a caution, as the father reportedly gave the following details about his son’s scheme: According to the reports, Woerner had the intention of throwing “nitric acid” at the officers who responded.

The following day, when officers arrived to the 9000 block of East Sonterra Boulevard to arrest Woerner on accusations of damage to the elderly, Woerner threw a “acidic substance” at an officer, according to the arrest affidavit. Woerner was arrested for the allegations. The “acidic substance” not only struck the officer, but it also fell to the ground, where it started to “sizzle.”

Another allegation against Woerner is that he hurled a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement officers while simultaneously saying, “Everyone is going to die.” In the midst of the pandemonium caused by the cops’ concern of contamination from the “acidic substance,” Woerner reportedly managed to escape and locked himself inside of one of the apartment complex buildings until he was caught. After then, he was stopped and taken into custody.

According to the officials, three officers had minor injuries but are expected to recover from their injuries.
