Los Angeles.Famous Mexican boxer Julio C. Sarvez Jr. was detained by U.S. immigration officials on Thursday for lying on a green card application and overstaying his visa, only days after his arrest.
Authorities said Chvez, who was arrested in front of his house on Wednesday, will be sent to Mexico, where he is accused of organized crime.

Who is Chvez?
The boxer is 39 years old. One of the most adored athletes in Mexican history, his father, Julio C. Sar Ch oz, is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
For a significant portion of his long boxing career, the son has struggled with drug addiction. He has served bans, missed weight, and been highly ridiculed for his sporadic commitment to the sport.
The younger Chavez went on to win and defend the WBC middleweight belt three times in 2011. Chvez lost against both Sergio Martinez and the generational greats that shared the ring with him.
He was found guilty in Los Angeles in 2012 and given a 13-day prison sentence. He was then taken into custody on gun-related allegations in January 2024. He had two AR-style ghost rifles, according to the police. Later, he was released on a $50,000 bail, provided that he attended a residential drug treatment center. The lawsuit is still ongoing, and Chvez frequently updates his progress.
